The fitness assessment involves land-based exercises to observe the athlete’s current fitness levels and effort during physical training. When swimmers pass the fitness assessment, they go through a swim assessment next to assess their ability to complete full lengths of a standard size 25yd pool. During non-summer months, training is held in the evenings. Swim lessons sessions are typically 45 minutes in length and 2 days per week (Mondays and Thursdays). Swim Team training sessions can meet between 3 and 6 days per week for an hour to two and a half hours depending on the training group a swimmer is assigned to based on age and skill level. The time slots for each training group fit between the times of 5:00pm and 8:10pm. Each swimmer’s time slot and meeting days will depend on the training group they belong to based on age and skill. Parents may not pick their own time slots based on the convenience of their own personal schedules. So it is important that children are available between those time frames before they join the team or starts lessons. So if a swimmer’s training group meets on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 6:30-8:00pm, a parent may not put them in another training group he/she doesn’t belong in because it meets Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 5:30-6:30pm.
